Students step into a more independent style of learning while strengthening academic foundations. This stage builds a clear bridge between Primary School and IGCSE.

Students explore new subjects, develop study habits and grow in confidence as learners. They begin to take ownership of progress and understand how learning connects across subjects.

By the end of Year 9, students are confident and prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.

Students learning journey

Key Stage 3 helps students move from the more structured Primary learning model into the more independently focused Secondary study.

Students strengthen knowledge in core subjects while exploring a broad curriculum. Lessons introduce deeper ideas and encourage students to question and investigate.

Students develop the habits needed for academic success:

·       Organising work and meeting deadlines

·       Managing homework independently

·       Reflecting on progress

·       Setting personal goals

Students begin to better understand their strengths and interests. This supports confident IGCSE subject choices in Year 9.

What are the subjects?

Students follow a broad and balanced curriculum that develops both academic knowledge and essential skills.

English

Students explore both the English Language and English Literature through novels, plays. poetry and non-fiction texts. They discuss ideas, analyse language and present opinions clearly. Students strengthen reading and writing and speaking and listening skills across different styles and contexts. Strong communication skills support learning across all subjects.

Mathematics

Students strengthen logical thinking and problem-solving skills. They work with algebra, geometry, statistics and number concepts. Students apply mathematical thinking to practical problems. Strong foundations prepare students for IGCSE Mathematics.

Science

Students explore Biology, Chemistry and Physics through investigation. They carry out experiments and analyse results. Students learn to ask questions and test ideas. Scientific thinking supports curiosity and innovation.

Humanities

Students explore the world through Global Perspectives, History and Geography. They investigate past societies and global issues. Students compare perspectives and understand global connections. Humanities develop research and analytical skills.

Languages

Students develop communication skills through the additional languages of Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin Chinese. They practise speaking, listening, reading and writing while learning about different cultures. Language learning supports global understanding.

Performing Arts

Students explore creative expression through Art, Music and Drama. They experiment with ideas and present their work. Creative learning builds confidence and self-expression.

Future Makers

Students design and create using practical and digital skills. These include the broad areas of robotics, Artificial Intelligence and coding. They explore design thinking and innovation. Technology learning prepares students for a changing world.

At Tenby International School Setia EcoHill, Key Stage 3 provides a strong bridge between Primary School and IGCSE.

Students participate in sports, performing arts and leadership activities. These experiences build teamwork and resilience. Students discover interests and develop new skills.

A campus designed for learning and sustainability

Students learn on a fourteen-acre purpose-built campus in Setia EcoHill, Semenyih. Science laboratories, sports facilities and creative spaces support active learning. Students explore ideas in a modern learning environment. Student is KS3 will spend active and engaging time in our Eco Garden learning about and engaging in sustainable practices including the ways they can build future-proofing sustainable skills such as cultivation, irrigation, composting and many others.
