Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia - A Night of New Flavours and Friendship at Our Iftar Dinner

Curiosity, conversation, and culture came together as our school community gathered for a special Iftar dinner — a shared experience that deepened understanding and strengthened connections.

The evening welcomed families, students, and staff into a warm, welcoming space on campus. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the atmosphere shifted—calm, expectant, and full of meaning. The event opened with a communal prayer, inviting reflection and centring the purpose of Ramadan: empathy, gratitude and spiritual connection.

A vibrant spread of local dishes followed, offering everything from fragrant rice and savoury curries to sweet treats. Students eagerly explored flavours familiar and new, while parents and teachers exchanged stories over shared plates. For many, it was a feast of learning — a chance to connect through tradition, taste and togetherness.

For our non-Muslim families, this was more than just an introduction to cultural practice — it was a personal invitation to experience it. Many shared how witnessing the call to prayer, understanding its significance, and participating in the meal gave them a deeper respect for the values of the holy month. For Muslim students and families, the evening was a celebration of identity — of being seen, respected and embraced by the wider school community.

This kind of shared experience is what makes our school culture beautiful. Students don’t just learn about diversity — they live it. By opening up meaningful cultural moments, we create space for every learner to grow in empathy, confidence and understanding.

It’s through moments like these that learning truly comes alive—sparking curiosity, deepening respect and celebrating the diverse voices that shape our school.
