Our Secondary students from both the International and National schools came together for the Inter-House Debate Competition 2026, where every debate challenged them to think critically, defend their viewpoints and communicate with confidence.Throughout the competition, students analysed complex issues, responded to challenging questions and thought on their feet. They backed up their arguments with evidence, questioned different perspectives and worked together to build convincing cases. With each round, they grew more confident in expressing their ideas clearly, respectfully and with purpose.Students debated a range of thought-provoking topics, from philosophy and society to economics and global affairs, encouraging them to look beyond the surface and consider different perspectives. In the final round, they debated the motion, "This House Would Prioritise National Self-Sufficiency Over Global Dependence," exploring the balance between national priorities and global cooperation while presenting well-reasoned arguments from different viewpoints.The final round was judged by Mr Darren Lim, a Tenby Ipoh alumnus, whose feedback encouraged students to reflect on their performances and continue refining their debating and communication skills.At Tenby Ipoh, learning extends beyond the classroom. Opportunities like the Inter-House Debate Competition encourage our Secondary students to question ideas, listen to different perspectives and communicate with confidence. By bringing together students from both the International and National schools, the competition also fostered collaboration, mutual respect and a deeper appreciation for different perspectives. Through experiences like these, our students develop the confidence and skills to become thoughtful communicators and engaged global citizens.
