At Tenby International School Tropicana Aman (TTA), we believe learning goes beyond textbooks - it’s about living the experience. Our Year 6 students recently embarked on an unforgettable educational journey to the Mah Meri Cultural Village in Carey Island, Selangor, where they discovered the traditions, crafts, and heritage of one of Malaysia’s Indigenous communities. The day was packed with engaging, hands-on activities that brought history and culture to life:• Weaving attap leaves and crafting intricate leaf origami.• Testing precision through traditional games such as gasing (spinning tops) and slingshots.• Dancing the Jo’oh and taking part in a mock Mah Meri wedding ceremony.Through these activities, students gained a deeper understanding of the Mah Meri people’s artistry, skills, and cultural values. The immersive experience encouraged them to appreciate Malaysia’s rich heritage and recognise the importance of preserving it for future generations. This trip was more than a cultural lesson - it was a celebration of community, creativity, and curiosity. Our students returned with new skills, unforgettable memories, and a stronger connection to the diversity that shapes our nation. At TTA, experiential learning opportunities like this empower our students to see the world from different perspectives, preparing them to be global citizens with respect for all cultures.
