As part of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), our Year 2 students at Tenby International School Tropicana Aman (TTA) embarked on a fascinating exploration into how plants and animals adapt to life in cold climates.

Students discovered how plants survive in freezing conditions and how animals develop special features to cope with extreme cold. To make the learning hands-on, they conducted a fun and memorable experiment - placing butter beneath their skin (inside a glove) to simulate animal blubber. This activity allowed them to experience first-hand how blubber acts as an insulating layer, helping animals retain heat in icy environments.

This engaging lesson not only reinforced scientific concepts but also encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation of how living things adapt to their habitats.

At TTA, we believe in making science come alive through interactive, real-world experiences that connect classroom learning with the natural world. Lessons like these inspire young learners to see themselves as scientists - asking questions, experimenting, and discovering how the world works.
