Three students from Tenby Schools Penang, Marin, Gwen and Pricila, recently took part in the Japan Volleyball Tour from 10 to 18 December, gaining first-hand experience in one of the most disciplined and competitive sporting environments in the world. Their journey combined elite-level training, cultural exchange and international recognition, marking a proud milestone for the school.Training at Takada High School in Iwate PrefectureDuring the tour, the students trained at Takada High School in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, a respected institution known for developing future national-level volleyball players.They were immersed in a high-performance training environment that emphasised precision, consistency and teamwork. Through daily sessions, Marin, Gwen and Pricila refined their technical skills, improved court awareness and strengthened their mental resilience under pressure.Elite Vision Training with a World ChampionA standout experience during the tour was the opportunity to receive vision training from a former world champion boxer.This specialised training method, commonly used by elite athletes, focuses on improving reaction time, focus and decision-making. The session added a new dimension to their development, enhancing both their performance and overall athletic awareness.Cultural Exchange and Communication SkillsBeyond the court, the students embraced the opportunity to engage with their Japanese peers.They navigated cultural and language differences, built new friendships and strengthened their communication skills in a short period of time.
