Early Years Open Morning
Tenby Schools Penang is a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) Specialist School and proudly part of International Schools Partnership. On our vibrant campus in Tanjung Bungah, Penang, students aged 3 to 16 benefit from Early Years, British International, or Private National schools, tailored to their learning needs and goals.Here, academic rigour combines with hands-on exploration, inspiring students to think critically, create boldly, and collaborate in dynamic spaces, from Robotics Labs, XR Labs, Music Studios and Makerspaces. Tenby Schools Penang is part of the Tenby Schools family, a pioneer of International and Private National education in Malaysia. Now with six campuses across the country (Ipoh, Penang, Setia Eco Park, Setia Eco Gardens, Setia EcoHill and Tropicana Aman), we are known for providing a learning experience that helps students excel academically, build essential skills for life, and grow with confidence to embrace future opportunities.
Established
Tenby Schools began in 1960 as a kindergarten for British expatriates in Malaysia. Dorothy Nelson-Doig founded the school, naming it after her hometown Tenby in Wales.
First private school in Penang
Sekolah Sri Tenby started as Sekolah Sri Pinang in 1981 and was the first private school in Penang.
Growth
Over the next 40 years, Tenby Schools introduced the English curriculum along with the Malaysian Primary School curriculum that pioneered dual-stream system that set new standards in education in Malaysia.
International School in Penang
Tenby Schools acquires Sekolah Sri Inai in Penang and opens Tenby International School, establishing Tenby Schools Penang.
New campus
Tenby Schools Penang moves into a new campus in Tanjung Bungah, providing an inspiring learning environment for students to learn.
Joined ISP
Tenby Schools joined International Schools Partnership - ISP, connecting with schools worldwide and creating broader learning opportunities for students.
STEAM specialist school
Tenby Schools Penang becomes a STEAM specialist school, with a learning approach that empowers students to grow at a pace of change.
STEAM Engine opens
Tenby Schools Penang opened its STEAM Engine a 75,000sq ft dedicated to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, including Robotics Labs, XR Labs, Design Technology Labs, Food Labs and a Black Box Theatre. An auditorium is planned to open for the next stage of this development.
MOU Signing with TechDome
We signed an MoU with TechDome Penang to champion STEAM education across the state, creating more opportunities for students to explore science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics while developing essential life competencies.

At the ASEAN School Awards 2026, we won the Judges’ Choice recognition in the Innovative Teaching and Learning Award and were named a finalist for the STEAM Award, standing alongside leading international schools worldwide.
