In their recent art class, Year 5 students at Tenby International School Tropicana Aman (TTA) paid tribute to the late Victor Chin - a celebrated Malaysian artist, writer, and filmmaker renowned for his watercolour paintings of local shophouses and his dedication to heritage conservation.Students explored how art can tell powerful stories, convey meaning, and preserve culture. They examined Victor Chin’s work, discussing the themes and emotions behind his paintings. Through guided interpretation, they practised various artistic techniques, including watercolour application, to create their own meaningful responses inspired by his style. This lesson was not only an opportunity to develop artistic skills, but also a way to connect with Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage. It encouraged students to see art as a form of storytelling - one that bridges generations and celebrates shared history.By honouring Victor Chin’s legacy, our students discovered the importance of preserving cultural identity through creativity, while learning how individual expression can make a lasting impact on the world.
