National Secondary School in Ipoh (KSSM)

The secondary national stream at Sekolah Sri Tenby runs from Form 1 to Form 5, for students aged 13 to 17.

Before Form 1, children aged 6 to 12 follow KSSR in our primary years (Standard 1 to 6), and after Form 5 they can move on to Sixth Form.

KSSM (Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah) is the Malaysian national standard syllabus that students follow from Form 1 to Form 5, and the SPM is the national exam sat at the end of it, in Form 5 at around age 17. At Sekolah Sri Tenby, students follow KSSM from Form 1 and prepare for the SPM in Form 5. A good SPM result opens the way to Sixth Form, university and other further study.

Students study Bahasa Melayu, English and Mandarin, and Maths and Science are taught in English.

Students gain fluency in English with active EAL support, which is offered to those with little or no English, and grow in Bahasa Melayu with Bahasa Malaysia as an Added Language support (BAL).

Yes. Sekolah Sri Tenby prepares students for the SPM while also offering IGCSE subjects in collaboration with the British pathway on the same campus, with support given for IGCSE English, IGCSE Maths and IGCSE Mandarin.

Students arrive at 7:45am, and timetabled classes finish at 3pm from Monday to Thursday and at 12:45pm on Fridays. Lunch runs from 12:20pm to 1pm, and students choose from a range of healthy options or bring a packed lunch from home. Co-curricular activities run from 3:30pm to 5pm from Monday to Thursday and from 1pm to 2:30pm on Fridays, so a full day with activities ends at 5pm.

Plenty. Our C.A.S.E programme (Creativity, Action, Service and Enrichment) offers 60 co-curricular options, from public speaking and coding to robotics, sports and environmental activities. Four houses, Chimera, Hydra, Cerberus and Typhon, bring students together for sports tournaments, festivals and triathlons, so every student has a place to belong. Sporty students can join the Tenby Titans and compete in football, athletics, swimming and more, and leadership roles include the Student Council, Prefects, House Captains and the Interact Club.

After the SPM, students aged 17 can continue to Tenby's Sixth Form on the same campus for Cambridge A Levels, a two-year programme covering Year 12 and Year 13, with support for university or employment pathways in Malaysia or abroad. Sixth Form scholarships of 20% to 50% are available based on academic performance and are open until the end of September each year.

For 2026, Sekolah Sri Tenby fees are RM6,937 per term for Forms 1 to 3 and RM7,395 per term for Forms 4 and 5, with three terms a year and before applicable taxes.
