Admissions and Fees

Policy on Admissions

Children are admitted in each year group to a maximum of 20 in the Early Years classes and up to 25 in each class in the rest of the school.

Tenby International School is not academically selective however to be admitted children must:

  • have the level of spoken and written English necessary to be able to access the curriculum
  • the ability to benefit from following an academic international curriculum

Children are admitted to the school on the basis of:

  • Completion of assessment tests set by the school
  • An interview with the principal of the school or the principal’s representative
  • Reports received for the past two years from the previous school (except for Early Years pupils)

Children admitted with sufficient English to access the curriculum but less than that normally expected by students of the school may be required to attend additional classes in English as a second language.

The school has no special provision for children with special educational needs. Children with special educational needs are admitted to the school where in the professional opinion of the principal:

  • the child can gain real benefit from following the curriculum provided by the school
  • the child´s attendance at the school will not hinder the effective education of other students.

*When appropriate the offer of admission of a child with special education needs may be dependent upon parents providing additional support at their own expense.

In certain circumstances, especially where there are reservations regarding the record of conduct in a previous school, admission may be on a provisional basis for one term.

*Children are placed in the year group appropriate to their age except where the Principal in consultation with parents decides that a lower year group will be better suited to meeting the needs of the child.

* For TIS only
