Tenby Schools SiWu Education Trust Fund Scholarship Award

Scholarships for 2013/2014 are available:

  • To both Malaysian and international students where parents or guardians are responsible for the payment of school fees.
  • For the period from which the SiWu Scholar joins the Upper Secondary school (Y10) to the end of Year 11 (IGCSE) subject to:
    a) The SiWu Scholar remaining enrolled
    b) An annual review of the SiWu Scholar’s progress

    Two categories of SiWu Scholarships are available :
    a) Academic
    b) Exceptional Talent

Criteria for the award of scholarships based on overall academic performance

  • Submission of a completed application form and supporting documentation
  • Evidence of past academic performance, e.g. UPSR, Checkpoint, school reports, and (a) five “A” grades at UPSR or (b) three “6” grades in CIE Checkpoint (Mathematics, English, Science) or (c) equivalent qualifications from other national systems.
  • A significant record of co-curricular and out-of school activities, supported by documentary evidence
  • A testimonial from the applicant’s current Head-teacher
  • Two interviews with the TISM Principal or delegate : one with the applicant and his/her parent/guardian and one with the applicant alone.

Criteria for the award of scholarships based on exceptional talent

  • As for Academic Scholarships plus
  • Supporting evidence of the Exceptional Talent, for example a recital or performance.

Scholarships based on exceptional talent will be awarded only where TISM is confident (a) that it can support the SiWu Scholar in the continued development of the talent and (b) that the SiWu Scholar in turn will use his or her talent to contribute to school activities and events.

Ongoing Responsibilities of Scholars

SiWu Scholars will excel academically and participate fully in the non-academic co-curricular life of TISM. S/he will be student leaders and actively contribute to the wider community.

Award Decisions

Decisions on scholarship awards will be made by the TISM School Board, based on recommendations from the TISM Principal. Such decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
