Led by Mr. Eric Liddell and Mr. Aiden Harper from TFL UK, the workshop covered team leading, speaking out and listening to others, understanding body language, dealing with conflict and collaboration. Through many hands-on activities, our leaders were able to both explore and demonstrate their skills in an environment which encouraged considerable self-reflection and thought.

Middle leaders are a key component in Tenby Schools’ continual development and I look forward to working alongside such enthusiastic and competent leaders in the months to come.

On Wednesday, 21st March, seven teachers from across our schools, met at Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park, Shah Alam, KL to participate in a 3-day workshop which focused on understanding student behaviour through play. Led by Sian Jorgenson, a qualified Play Therapist and parent from our school in Miri, Sarawak, the teachers went through a number of activities which encouraged them to explore child development through such media as paint, drama, crayon and music. Sian will be following up on this successful workshop with support visits to our schools later in May.

100% of the students achieved a Grade A or B in English, Mathematics, Principles of Accounting, Chinese and Islamic Studies.

Overall, more than 85% of the grades achieved in eight out of the twelve subjects offered at the school are either an A or B.

Following the announcement of the opening of the Tenby Schools’ Sixth Form in September, we would like to cordially invite you to an Information Evening at the following time and venue:

The purpose of the evening will be to provide details of the opening of the Sixth Form. The evening will be an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of what we plan to offer and for you to ask questions. This is a very exciting time for the school and we very much look forward to seeing you there.

“Today we are building on Dato’ KK Lim’s legacy in education,” said Dato’ Lim Si Boon, Director of Tenby Schools Malaysia. “Together we are making an investment that will benefit our school children and communities for generations to come. This is also an infrastructure to attract returning Perakeans and investors to Perak.” Lim also spoke about the journey that first began in 2004 when his late father, Dato’ KK Lim, first took over the school. Together with a group of teachers under the helm of Mdm Lee Yam Sei, Tenby Schools Ipoh has expanded from a student population of three hundred to over a thousand today, and more than three thousand collectively in Ipoh, Penang, Shah Alam and Miri.

The guest of honour in attendance was the Chief Minister of Perak, Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, who praised the management and board of the school for their efforts in expanding a home-grown brand in education throughout the country.

More than 200 guests, including school children and parents, teachers and staff, board members, government and community representatives, gathered in a colourfully decorated tent on the site of the future school. The event began with primary and secondary school children from the school’s choir perform a repertoire of four songs, conducted by Ms Yeoh Choo Swee.

The highlight of the event was when shovels were brought out to symbolically break the ground for Tenby Schools Ipoh by the stakeholders, board of directors and director of the school. The crowd cheered and a burst of confetti added to the celebrative atmosphere as they dug their shovels into the earth.

The students had to compete with teams from five other international schools, performing hands-on experiments in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. They had to apply their knowledge and skills in unfamiliar contexts to solve problems. In the final challenge, they had to show their creative flair and use cross-disciplinary knowledge to design and build the tallest possible structure using limited resources. It was indeed an enjoyable, exciting and enriching experience for all.

This will be concurrent with the expansion of the campus to accommodate an expanding student population. The Sixth Form will be an integral part of the school, where the students are encouraged to take up leadership roles within the school community. They will be equipped with the qualifications and skills to make the next step into employment or university confidently.

Prior to Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Parmley was teaching in Dubai. He has been teaching for nearly 20 years, the last 12 of which have been in the International Circuit. He now lives here with his family.
